Jammu | Feb 7
Hundreds of BJP activists, led by State Secretary Yudhvir Sethi, today held a massive protest demonstration at Shalamar Chowk against the ill-working of Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA). The party activists, on the occasion, shouted slogans demanding early completion of works in Jammu city by the ERA. The protest demonstration was organized by Ward No. 10 President Anil Masoom.
Yudhvir Sethi, in his address, strongly criticized the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) for delaying the works of public conveniences and parkings in areas like Mohalla Paharian, Old Hospital Road and City Chowk. The areas, where these works have been undertaken and are incomplete, the people living there and the public feels it very difficult to pass through. One such work of construction of Sulabh Shouchalaya outside Girls Higher Secondary School, Mohalla Paharian, is creating so many problems. The work on this Sulabh Shouchalaya was started two years ago and had the ERA serious towards its duty, the same could have been completed in six months time. He said the department officials are giving step-motherly treatment to Jammu region while providing funds for various works. He said that only this year, the ERA sanctioned rupees 190 crores more to Kashmir which has exposed its anti-Jammu and Kashmir- centric approach. Not only this, the department officials are worried about the developments in areas housing the VVIPs and the colonies where poor people live are left unattended.
Yudhvir Sethi demanded a thorough inquiry into allocation of funds to the ERA, their spendings in Kashmir and Jammu and reasons for delaying the works in Jammu region. The government should also ensure stern action against all such officials of the department who are responsible for all such ills.
BJP leaders including Om Parkash Mahajan (Kaku), Karan Singh, Dharamvir Sethi, Mehar Singh, Ramesh Sharma, Bittu Pradhan, Sat Pal Sharma, Surinder Pargal, Madan Lal Abrol, Vijay Mehra, Tarsem Jain, Vikrant Singh, S. Jeet Singh, Rinku, Ramji Aggarwal, Sukku and many more took part in the protest demonstration.
