| Lok Adalat Rajouri decides 243 cases, awards Rs.28 lakh compensation | | | Early Times Reporter

As a part of week long celebrations of the Lok Adalat, a Lok Adalat was held at the District Court complex Rajouri under the chairmanship of Wani ND, Chairman of District Legal Services Authority, (Principal District & Sessions Judge Rajouri). A record number of 243 cases out of 258 taken up were decided at today’s Lok Adalat.
Out of 67 MACT cases, Lok Adalat settled 59 through negotiations and awarded Rs 28 lakhs as compensation to different victims of the vehicular accidents. Apart from MACT cases, nine cases of Bank and 25 cases of Criminal cases were also settled.
Rajesh Sekri CJM Rajouri, Manzoor Ahmed Khan District Mobile Magistrate Rajouri and Ahsan Malik Munsiff Rajouri assisted in the Lok-Adalats. Besides, President Bar Association and members of Bar Association Rajouri, litigants, public and prominent citizens of Rajouri also participated in the Lok-Adalat.
Out of 32 criminal cases taken up, 25 were decided. Sub-Judge Nowshera settled 36 cases out of 40, Munsiff Thanamandi decided 36 cases out of 40, Munsiff Koteranka decided eight cases out of 10, Munsiff Budhal decided four cases out of six, Munsiff Kalakote decided 18 cases out of 25 and Munsiff Sunderbani decided 12 cases out of 18 whereas Munsiff Darhal decided 36 cases.
