| Various deputations call on Azad | | | Srinagar, August 25 – Reiterating the commitment of the government to take the state to goal of prosperity, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said that agriculture and horticulture which are potential sectors of state economy are being promoted on modern and scientific lines giving special impetus to development of this sector in hilly and remote areas by introducing high breed seeds and plants. CM received several deputations from various areas here Friday, talked to them and heard patiently. Chief Minister said besides making available adequate education and health facilities, better road connectivity which is imperative for socio-economic development of the ruralities is on the top priority of the government. He said that hundreds of new road projects have been taken up for execution especially in the rural areas. All the unconnected villages and hamlets would be connected with nearest urban centers by 2008 under Bharat Nirman and other centrally and state funded schemes, he said. Deputations who called on the Chief Minister were from Qaziabad, Handwara and Bheleesa, Doda, delegation of J&K Political Migrants Front and JK Minerals, Employees Association. The deputation of Qaziabad, Handwara led by Mr. Ghulam Rasool Wani presented a chatter of demands to the chief Minister which includes tehsil status to Qaziabad, setting up of sub-district hospital, fire service station and upgradation and renovation of roads of the area. A joint deputation of Bhaleesa block which includes the deputationists of village Kalhotrian, Sooti, Chungoo also met with the Chief Minister and pleaded for the over all development of this hilly and remote area. They also demanded for special recruitment for police and operating a bus service from Kalhotrain to Gandhoo tehsil headquarter. The deputationists of Jammu and Kashmir Political Migrants Front led by its Chairman Mr. Sheikh Mohi-ud-din demanded rehabilitation of political migrants irrespective of caste, creed and religion at the same place. They also urged for government jobs to their children. J&K Minerals Ex-Employees Association also called on the Chief Minister and demanded for pension benefits. The Chief Minister gave a patient hearing and assured the deputationists that their genuine demands would be looked into. |
