| Chori chori, chupke chupke | | | New Delhi | Feb 9 "Chain se sona hai to jag jao. Aapke chain aur sukoon ke liye roj jagta hai Crime Reporter." these famous lines used by an anchor of a news channel could not save his house from his own servant. The house of Raghvendra Mudgal, the anchor of a crime-based programme on ZEE News, was burgled by his servant, Dhananjay Pandey, who had introduced himself as Mritunjay Mastana while seeking the job. Dhananjay, a resident of Siwan in Bihar, had been working as a domestic help at Mudgal's Shakarpur residence in East Delhi for the last three months. On the ill-fated night of February 5, Dhananjay reportedly locked the door of the room where Mudgal was sleeping and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 1 lakh. "When I woke up in the morning, I found myself locked in the room. My friend Tuntun, who lives with me but was not in the house that night, came and opened the room. It was only then that we realised Dhananjay had committed a theft in the house," Mudgal said. Mudgal, who has also acted in four movies, said that nothing was left in the bedroom and the servant took away everything that was kept in the other room. "He took away Rs 14,000 cash, a handicam, a digital camera, a mobile phone and even clothes. He packed up everything in two costly bags-a Samsonite and an American tourister," said Mudgal. Mudgal had earlier worked as an announcer with the All India Radio at Ambikapur centre for nine years. He was recently awarded the best crime anchor by the 'views on news' magazine. The Shakarpur police have registered an FIR in the case. The cops are coordinating with the Bihar police as the servant is a resident of that state and has yet not reached his native town of Siwan. |
