| 90 pc villagers yet to get job cards under NREG scheme | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 9 To create awareness among the masses about the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) and also Right to Information Act (RTI), the Joint Action Committee Bhartiya Kisan Sangh and Rural India Development Front (RIDF), a Non-governmental Organization, today organized an awareness camp at Bishnah. Prominent villagers of District Jammu and Samba participated in the camp and highlighted their problems. The participants complained that about 90 per cent villagers have not received the job-I cards under NREGA and demanded that the same be issued at the earliest. The camp was held under the chairmanship of Satish Bharti and Braham Dutt Sharma while Deputy Inspector General of Police (Vigilance) Raful Hassan was the chief guest. The Supreme Court Advocate and honorary Director MKyas –an institute of legal education, Monika Kholi delivered lecture on the Right to Information Act. She said RTI Act is a tool in support of democracy adding that Swedan is the first country in the world to have the RTI Act way back in 1766. Bhraham Dutt Sharma, President RIDF delivered lecture on NREGA and asked the participants to take maximum benefit of the NREG scheme which provides 100 days job guarantee to every rural family. Earlier, Satish Bharti, President Bhartiya Kisan Sangh in his speech highlighted the problems of the rural people and stressed the need for creating awareness among the masses about the benefits of NREG scheme. Delivering a lecture on vigilance point of view, the DIG Police (Vigilance) Raful Hassan assured the participants of positive help of the Vigilance Department in solving their genuine problems. He asked the participants to get maximum benefits under the NREG Act and the Right to Information Act, which have been tailored for the benefit of the masses. Pritam Lal Sharma, Provincial President Bhartiya Kisan Sangh presented vote of thanks. |
