In the two-day Jammu District Korfball Championship, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Korfball Association, semi-finals position has been cleared at Government Girls High School, Gandhi Nagar, here today.
Teams reaching the last four stages are Trikuta Club, Jammu Lines, Jammu Red and Jammu Blue. Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow morning, Trikuta Club shall meet Jammu Red while Jammu Blue shall be fighting against Jammu Lines for the final berth.
“Tomorrow being the final day of the competitions, the semi-finals would be followed by the final and prize distribution at 12 noon”, general secretary of the Association, Manjit Singh told SAN.
Earlier, in the first round of quarterfinals played today, Trikuta Club beat Young Hero 11-7 (ht-5-2) while Jammu Red outplayed Diamond Club 11-11 (ht-9-7). In other two matches, Jammu Lines downed Rural Korfball Club and Jammu Blue trounced Ever Green 17-13 (ht-11-8).
In all, eight teams, representing different clubs of Jammu are taking part in this tournament.
Earlier, the two-day district Jammu championship was declared open by the vice-president of the Association, Pardeep Malhotra. Prominent among others present were Manjeet Singh, R K Sharma, D B Bargotra, V P Sharma, S K Sharma and G S Bakshi. |
