Two Pakistanis arrested for attacking India’s paramilitary force
2/10/2008 10:31:16 PM
New Delhi | Feb 10
Two Pakistani nationals are among six suspected members of the rebel group Lashkar-e-Toiba arrested for an attack on an Indian paramilitary force camp on January one this year.
Police in Uttar Pradesh, where the attack took place, told reporters Sunday that the arrests were made from different places in the state last night and this morning.
Eight people, including seven paramilitary personnel, were killed in the attack on their camp at Rampur in Uttar Pradesh on the New Years Day. Apart from the two Pakistani nationals, the rest four were from Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh, the police said.
The police recovered two AK-47 rifles, grenades and a large cache of ammunition and explosive material from them. Two Pakistani passports were also seized.
The arrests have led to revelations about their plans to carry out terror strikes in other parts of India, the official said, adding some of India’s top political leaders were also on their target list.
