| Evergreen School celebrates Annual Day | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 10 Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma has said that education sector has been prioritized by initiating pro-people policies across the state. He said not only the students of the state but students of outside the state are getting their higher and job oriented educational facilities in the state level educational institutions set up by Azad led government across the state during last two years. Minister was addressing annual day function of Evergreen Higher Secondary School Lower Roop Nagar on Sunday, He said that various reformative and exemplary steps have been taken up to upgrade the quality and job-oriented education facilities in the state. He said hundreds of new primary schools were opened and upgraded in every nook and corner of the state. He said opening of 40 new Degree Colleges, besides 5 Universities have changed the overall educational scenario in the state. Mr. Sharma said that focused attention is being given also on the infrastructure building under education sector adding that during last two years 1468 primary and Middle school buildings have been constructed whileas the execution of 2494 school buildings are in progress. He said the construction work of `14 New Degree Colleges started under the fast track programme at a cost of Rs 60 crore which would be completed during the mid of next fiscal year. Mr. Sharma called upon the students to strive hard and bring excellence in academic and co-curricular activities which he said is imperative for making Jammu and Kashmir a prosperous state. Minister appreciated the role of private educational institutions for bringing excellence in education sector across the state by their cooperation to the government. An impressive colourful cultural variety programme was presented by the school children depicting cultural ethos, communal harmony and amity of the nation which were witnessed and liked by thousands of people in audience. The Minister appreciated the students and school management for presenting an impressive cultural programme on the occasion which he said had depicted cultural ethos and secular character of the nation artistically. For the sake of encouragement of the students, the Minister gave a cash award of Rs 5000 to the participating students of the institution. On the occasion, the Minister gave away the medals and trophies to the students who achieved excellence in curricular and co-curricular activities. Earlier, the Minister lighted the traditional lamp while inaugurating the function. A large number of people including parents, students, teachers, prominent citizens besides former MLA Th. Shivdev Singh and other senior Congress leaders attended the function. |
