| Music, dance fest being held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 10 The music and dance lovers of Jammu will be witnessing some of the rare forms of classical music and dance in next 4 days at Abhinav Theatre of J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. Giving details of the 4 day extravaganza the spokesman of Academy said that India’s top most classical performer Miss Ravinder Khurana and her troupe from Mumbai along with local artist Priya Dutta who is a dancer of high caliber and repute and lecturer in dance in Cultural Academy college will perform on the inaugurate event. Minister for Higher and Technical Education Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak will inaugurate the function. On 12th of February 2008, Dr. Aruna Mohantey along with her disciples from Bhubhuneshwar will be performing Odissi dance while the local troupe lead by veteran dance instructor Mr. V.K Kohli will also perform. Minister for Health and Medical Education Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma is likely to be among the audience on 13th of February 2008. Kuchipudi, India’s must reverent appreciated classical dance will be performed by Guru Swapansunderi and her party from Hyderabad. Mr. Babu Singh, Minister for Power will grace the occasion along with other dignitaries. A local classical troupe will also enthrall the audience. On the concluding day of the festival on 14th February 2008, a santoor assembly by the young students of Salman Public School of New Delhi will perform for the first time. It will be the rarest of occasion for the music lovers of the State to witness the 15 young Santoor players between 4 to 12 years of age perform on stage. It will also have a fusion of sitar and violin by the students of Academy’s College IMFA, Jammu. Minister for Sports and Youth Services Haji Nissar will be the Chief guest on the occasion. |
