| Arnia witnesses Dogri folk mela | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 10 In connection with Border Folk Mela, J&K Academy of Art, Cultural an Languages, Jammu and Yuva Rang Manch (Adlehar) Arnia organized a Mega Dogri Folk Mela at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Arnia today which was witnessed by a mammoth gathering. Dr. Kamal Arora, Prominent personality of the area was the Chief Guest and Mr. S.K Rao, SHO Arnia was the Guest of Honour. While welcoming the audience, Special Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Cultural and Languages Mr. T.R Sharma briefly explaining the aims and objectives of J&K Cultural Academy in promoting the art, cultural and literature in Jammu and Kashmir stated that art, cultural and literature must be propagated to far flung areas of the state as they are the richest repositories of folk art and culture. He said that Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Cultural Academy are already underway and a number of Cultural and Literary programmes are being organized throughout in J&K for giving the people a glimpse into their rich heritage. He called upon budding talent especially the youth fraternity to come forward and participate in the endeavor of promoting art and culture. Dr. Kamal Arora while speaking on the occasion appreciated the Cultural Academy for organizing Folk Cultural Bonanza in Border areas and supporting efforts of local Yuva Rang Manch (Adlehar). He awarded Rs. 11,000/- as a gesture of his appreciation and encouragement for all the participating artists. The following artists presented their Folk music and dance items are Pradhuman Singh, Krishna Kumari, Bishan Dass, Rakesh Slathia, Raman Slathia, Nirbhay Slathia, Surinder Manhas, Marina Jamwal, Ramaloo Ram and party, Avtar Singh and party, Jackson and party, Rashpal Singh Chanottar, Vishwanath Ratta and party. |
