| JKTUC demands amendment in EPF act. | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 10 In order to draw attention of the state government to implement employees provident fund scheme on below five employees in place of 10 or more employees Jammu and Kashmir trade union congress held a press conference here today. Speaking on the occasion, President JKTUC, Subash Chander Sharma said that on the behalf of toiling and poor working class the government should amend the said Act, as it is democratic to apply new act to the establishments employing below five workers. He further appealed that keeping in view the constitution provision of state as well as the constitution of India, Jammu and Kashmir is a welfare state and such act provides social security to the poor workers. It is the need of the hour to amend such act in the favour of large number of poor workers as these workers are the back bone of the industry. He further appealed to the government to extend the provision of social scheme to the establishments having workers below five workers as if the EPF act will be applicable to the establishment having or more employees, it would be deprive about one lac workers from the social security of their old age. |
