Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 10 Expressing their sincere thanks to the Chief Minister for his, what they called a ‘bold decision’ of giving domicile rights to the refugees, the West Pakistani Refugees of 1947, settled in Jammu and Kashmir, have said that Azad has done it despite the fact that most of the leaders from Kashmir were opposed to the decision. Conveying their thanks to Ghulam Nabi Azad at a meeting held at the residence of Janak Raj Gupta, Political Advisor to Chief Minister here today, the refugees leaders appreciated the positive attitude of the Chief Minister and having consultations with the Central leaders, especially the AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, for accommodating the children of the refugees in the Central Government departments. The refugee leaders said that Azad had supported their cause even when he was a Member Parliament. Those who met Gupta and conveyed their thanks included Baldev Raj, President West Pakistani Refugees Action Committee, Puran Chand General Secretary, Ajit Singh, Vice President, Mangal Dass and Bishan Dass Cashiers, Hans Raj, Advisor, Bachan Lal, Prakash Chand, Channa Lal, Joginder Pal, Dileep Chand, Nand Lal, Vijay Kumar, Babu Ram, Ved Prakash Bhagat, District Congress Secretary, Virender Mahajan, Bansi Lal, Choudhry Sudagar Singh and Chaman Lal Mandi. |
