| Shastri beat Vijay led JCC in President Cup | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 10 Represented by unknown names, the Shastri Cricket Club (SCC) today trounced the star studded Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) by 31 runs to enter the quarterfinals of the President Cup Cricket Tournament organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College hostel ground, here. Led by Ranji Trophy skipper, Vijay Sharma and represented by Ian Dev Singh, Vivek Singh, Vijay Dogra and Guru Partap, JCC failed in their efforts to overhauled a target of 181 runs in 40-over game and in the process the whole side bowled out for 149 runs in 38.1 over. Earlier, JCC won the toss and opted to field. Batting first, Shastri made 180 runs in 40 over losing all their wickets. Ashok remained the top scorer with 27 runs while Ankush and Mukander contributed 22 runs each. Ankit added valuable 17 runs to the total. From JCC, Vijay Sharma was most successful bowler with three for 26 in eight over. Vijay Dogra and Guru Partap took two wickets each. Later chasing a target of near four runs per over, JCC lost all their wickets in 38.1 over for 149 runs. Rohit Bhat emerged top scorer with 31 runs, followed by Young Ian Dev (29 and Mousin Iqbal (10). Varun bagged three wickets for Shastri for 22 runs in eight overs while Sanjay clinched two. Next match: United Cricket Club (UCC) to meet KC Cricket Club at 9.30 am tomorrow. |
