| At Dogra Hall, parking reserved….! | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 10 The Dogra Sadar Sabha –an organization of historical importance representing the aspiration of Dogras –had become a monopoly of Gulchain Singh Charak long before he donned the political power, but now its property too has become his exclusive domain. Dogra Sadar Sabha has its office at the famous Dogra Hall near civil secretariat. The regular meetings, conventions and other functions of Dogra Sadar Sabha are held there. The building the jointly managed by the managing committee and every member of the Dogra Sadar Sabha taking due pride also has sense of ownership and sense of belonging to the building. However, for past couple of weeks there is a simmering discontent among the members of the Dogra Sadar Sabha as they are not allowed to take their vehicles inside the premises. "This building is just few meters away from the Civil Secretariat which is a high security zone. Upwards, there is a huge traffic congestion and we do not have any place to park our vehicles", said a member of the Dogra Sadar Sabha while pleading anonymity. He lives in close vicinity of the Dogra Hall. "Till recently, we used to park our vehicles inside the premises but now we are not allowed", said another member. He added, only the chief of Dogra Sadar Sabha, Gulchain Singh Charak can park his own and staff vehicles there, none else is allowed". Sources said that these orders had to be issued after an incident, when the Minister for Higher Education Gulchain Singh Charak did not find place to park his vehicle inside the premises of the Dogra Hall. When Minister reached there for attending an organizational affair, the parking lot inside the Dogra Hall premises was packed and he had to alight on the main road to get into the premises. Following that orders have been issued that no other vehicle shall be allowed to be parked inside the Dogra Hall premises. "He is our president and Dogra Hall is our joint property. We understand that he might have faced inconvenience once but we face this problem every day" said another member of the Dogra Sadar Sabha. |
