| Rehman flays traffic department | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 11 State president of Samajwadi Party (SP) Sheikh Abdul Rehman has condemned the functioning of traffic department who he alleged were responsible for day to day accidents occurring in the region. According to a press release, Rehman today said that the conditions of road and availability of transport in the districts of Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar has gone from bad to worst. He said functionaries of the government are mute spectators and as such play with the lives of people. Rehman also visited government medical college hospital here today and enquired about the injured, who were seriously injured in a mini bus accident near Doda recently. Eight persons were killed in the accident. He criticized the traffic mismanagement alleging 35 passengers were permitted in a mini bus of 20 seats capacity. He demanded Rs. One lakh as ex-gratia amount in favour of kins of those who lost their lives. Beside Rs. 50 thousand in favour of those who are languishing in government medical college for treatment. He further said that the poor injured victims are complaining that they are being asked to purchase the medicines from open market. He appealed the Div. Commissioner to personally look into the grievances of mini bus victims.
