Consumer Commission disposes off three complaints
‘Directs PMG to make payment of Rs.28.35 lakhs along with interest’ to petitioners

The Jammu and Kashmir State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission today directed the Post Master General Jammu to make payments to the tune of Rs.28,35, 000 from the dates of the maturity of the Kissan Vikas Patras to the complainants along with future interest at the agreed rate till the final payments are made.
These directions were passed by the Commission headed by Justice (Retd) G D Sharma with Khalid Hussain as its member here today.
According to Khalid Hussain, the Commission today directed the Post and Telegraphs Department through Chief Post Master General, Jammu, to make the payment of the remaining amount of Rs.10 lakhs to M/S Kashind, a private finance company of Kanak Mandi, along with agreed rate of interest accrued thereon on the deposits made by him in the shape of Kissan Vikas Patras deposited in 1997. On maturity, the depositor was denied the payment in the year 2003.
In similar other complaint filed by another finance company namely M/S Bamba and Company Ltd which carries its business in Kanak Mandi also, the Commission directed the Postal Department to make payment of Rs.14 lakhs along with agreed interest accrued on date of maturity till the final payment is made.
In its third complaint disposed off by the Commission, Justice Sharma directed the Senior Post Master, Department of Posts, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu to make the payment of remaining amount of Rs. 4,35,000 along with the interest at the agreed rate till final payment is made to the petitioner.
This direction was passed in a complaint filed by M/S Rajouri Hire Purchase Finance Co. seeking directions for reimbursement of the deposited amount along with the interest.
The Finance Company had deposited Rs.4, 35, 000 under Kissan Vikas Patras with the Post Office and on maturity was entitled to get Rs.8, 70, 000 which was not paid to him leading to the filing of the complaint.
