| Festival on classical dances begins | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 11 A four day classical dance festival was inaugurated by Gulchain Singh Charak, Minister for Higher Education today at Abhinav Theatre, here. Rafeeq Masoodi, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was also present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, Charak congratulated the artists from Mumbai and local artist for their superb performance. He also appreciated the efforts of Masoodi, and said that in his tenure academy has excelled a lot in every field of art, culture and literature. Earlier, while welcoming the audience, Masoodi said that the aim of organizing this festival was to boost and encourage the local artists and also provide them to interact with the artists of national fame and repute through their performances on stage and back stage also. While appreciating the local talent, he said that such interactive performances will help the local artist to analyse their talent with comparison to the nationally renowned artists. In today’s programme Raminder Khurana from Mumbai and Priya Dutta dancer and Lecturer in IMFA Jammu presented classical dances, which were highly applauded by the audience. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ravi Kant Sharma while Shamima Akhter special officer presented vote of thanks. On day 2 of the festival, V.N. Kohli and Party Mukulini Sethi and Party, Aruna Mohanty and Party (Orissa) Monisa Nayak (Delhi) will perform at Abhinav Theatre. |
