| JU XI sails into semis of Ashwani Hockey | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 11 Making it a big 5-1 victory over Govind Club Chatha, University of Jammu (JU) XI today qualify for the semi-finals of the Ashwani Kapoor Memorial Hockey Tournament being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Hockey Association at K K Hakhu Stadium, here. Except for Amarjeet Singh, who struck in the 30th minute, there was hardly any deadly attack from Govind Club on JU goal post. Earlier, JU took the lead when Pawan Kumar scored first blood in the eighth minute, followed by the second goal in the 27th. Leading by 2-1 in the first half, JU XI added two more goals to make it a big (4-1) win. Sarabjeet Singh (43rd penalty corner) and Pankaj Kumar (58th) scored after the breather. Today’s match was officiated by Dalbir Mehta, Jagjit Singh and Karanjeet Singh. Next match: Khalsa Club to take on JU XI in the first semi-final tomorrow at 2.30 pm. |
