| President Cup: Shashi 69 helps KCCC sail into QFs | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 11 Brilliant innings of 69 not out by Shashi Sharma guided Karam Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) to the quarterfinals of President Cup Cricket Tournament underway at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today. In today’s pre-quarterfinal, KCCC defeated United Cricket Club (UCC) Udhampur by six wickets. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, UCC lost all their wickets for 164 runs in 38.4 over of the 40 over match. In reply, KCCC chased the total making 167 runs in 30 over for the loss of four wickets. Deepak Thakur, who was stumped out, played nice innings of 32 runs for UCC studded with four boundaries and a six. Rajiv played patient innings of 34 runs and remained unbeaten while Rahul contributed 23 including two fours. From KCCC, Shashi Sharma, Raman Dutta and Pardeep Bali shared three wickets each. Later, chasing the target, KCCC surpassed the UCC total in 30 overs making 167 runs with six wickets in hand. Shashi, who earlier, took three wickets, remained the top scorer with unbeaten 69 including five boundaries. Surinder too played nicely making 33 (5x4) not out. Anshuman Sharma was other main scorer with 25 runs. Inderjeet, Anshuman and Paramjeet took one wicket each for UCC. Next match: Bhaderwah Cricket Club to take on WCC Srinagar tomorrow at 9.30 am. |
