| Pak soldiers return home untouched | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 11 There may be a shower of brickbats from the other side of the divide but the authorities from this side are always forthcoming with their bouquets. This precedence was once again repeated today when the BSF pushed back the three Pakistan soldiers who had inadvertently crossed into the Indian Territory last evening in RS Pura sector. The BSF soldiers had arrested three Pakistani soldiers when they crossed the international border from Suchetgarh area. They belonged to the 19 Punjab unit of the Pakistan army near the India-Pakistan border. Authorities said it was not known why the soldiers crossed into the Indian side and the three will be questioned. Arrests of Pakistani soldiers by Indian forces were rare and Sunday's arrests were the first since the 2004 ceasefire on the borders. The arrested Pak soldiers have been identified as: Sepoy Syed Zia-ul-Hussian of village Gofba tehsil Kamaliya, Sepoy Nazir Ahmed of Tehsil Yazman and Sepoy Amjad Farooq of district Gujrewala. The Deputy Inspector General BSF Jammu range GS Virk said that, "the Pak soldiers were found to be sportsmen of 19 Punjab regiment and during investigations they revealed that they were visiting one of the villages near the border and inadvertently strayed over to India. DIG Virk said the decision to hand these Pak soldiers was taken in tune with the ongoing confidence building measures between India and Pakistan. The action will strengthen the relations between the two border guarding forces said Virk referring to mutual understanding between the border guarding forces of the countries. BSF men recovered Pak currency to the tune of Rs 2180, three mobile sets with Pakistan SIM and voters identity card and identity card from the possession of Pak soldiers. "We are feeling happy we are going home untouched .The BSF men took good care of our needs and we were not humiliated by BSF men during our interrogation, Sepoy Syed Zia Ul-Hussain told reporters before his custody was handed over to Pak rangers by BSF personnel. He said they strayed in to the Indian territory while they were visiting nearby village. Syed Zia –Ul Hussain told reporters that he is going home with a smile on his face. I am happy we are treated nicely by the BSF men during our interrogation, Syed said no one in BSF misbehaved with us. They really treated us nicely and did not harass us. |
