Jammu | Feb 12
A deputation of Shopkeeper Association General Bus Stand Jammu, led by its President Ashwani Sharma, today called on the Advisor to the Chief Minister, Sh. Janak Raj Gupta. The shopkeepers reiterated their demand for the JDA entering into fresh rent/lease deed with them, in respect of shops allotted to them in the bus stand Jammu.
They told Gupta that the shopkeepers in the general bus stand Jammu had raised their kutcha khokhas in the bus stand and entered into rent deed with the JDA in 1970. Consequently they were being pressed for revision of the existing rent of their khokhas. The shopkeepers, however submitted their representation and prayed for allowing them to put up concrete structures of their shops and that they would allow enhancement of rent, with fresh rent/lease deed to be entered into with them.
Accordingly with the approval of the JDA the shopkeepers, on their own had made pucca construction of their shops, under the supervision of JDA and as per the design approved by them, spending money on their own. After protracted negotiations with the concerned authorities and the final meeting held with Vice Chairman JDA, in which MLA Jammu East, Yogesh Sawhney, who was MoS then, the revised rent was fixed at the rate of Rs 3 per square foot. We have since been paying this revised rent, but despite our repeated requests and representations to the concerned authorities fresh rent/lease deed has not been entered into with us, although positive recommendations in this behalf have been made by the concerned authorities and even the then VC JDA had put up a note for doing the same.
In the presence of the deputation Janak Raj Gupta rang up to the Vice Chairman JDA and instructed him, on behalf of the Chief Minister, to soon enter into fresh rent deed with the shopkeepers in the general bus stand Jammu. The association has thanked Gupta for giving them the patient hearing and also instructing the VC JDA to redress their grievance.
Besides Rakesh Abrol and Ashwani Sharma others who formed the deputation were Surinder Gupta, Senior Vice President, Nariender Kumar, General Secretary, Madhu Sharma, Vice President, Rajesh Gandhotra, Vice President, V J Chadha, Cashier, Varinder Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, Secretary, Vijay Uppal, Organizer, Inderjeet Sharma, Joint Secretary.
