A man was buried alive under snow after an avalanche struck a remote village in Thathri tehsil of the district, sources today said.
Body of one Ghulam Nabi, 40, was exhumed from the snow at the Champara Kahara village this morning.The victim, who had left his home to fetch water, came under a sudden avalanche last evening, sources said.
Several villages in the Doda district were still unapproachable due to the recent heavy snowfall. ''Population at Thanta, Bani, Sunga, Kither, Baonga and several other villages is facing acute scarcity of essential commodities, like kerosene oil and eatables,'' a report said. |
