| Saroori convenes meeting of NGOs, Voluntary organizations | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 13 A meeting of the NGOs voluntary organizations of Jammu was held under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Forest, Tourism, Social Welfare, CA&PD Mr. G. M. Saroori here today. The meeting took stock of the relief measures being taken up for the affected families of unprecedented snowfall living in the Doda Ramban and Kishtwar areas. In the meeting voluntary organizations volunteered to provide woolen blankets, medicines for affected persons. It was decided that the stock shall be dumped in Lawrence School, Panjthirthi, Jammu upto 14th of this month. The NGOs also volunteered to approach other social organizations in Jammu and other areas, so that more relief material could be procured, air lifted and distributed in the areas which are still inaccessible. S.P.Verma and wing commander (Retd) Manmohan Joshi, representatives of the Rachnatmik Samaj Kalyan volunteered to coordinate between the NGOs and the administration so that the woolen blankets, medicine and other essential relief material could be promptly procured and also lifted. Saroori thanked the voluntary organizations for their gesture of goodwill to help the needy people in this hour of great crisis. Besides Secretary State Social Welfare Board Mr. V. K. Koul, the meeting was also attended by 35 prominent NGOs voluntary organizations which included Dr. Ved Kumari Ghai, S. P. Verma, Wing Commander (Redt) Mr. M. Joshi, Dr. Ashwani Jojra, Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Ms. Usha Anand, Smt Vaishno Devi, Mrs. Satya Jamwal, Mrs. Reetu Rajput, Mr. Ghulam Nai, Mr. H. N. Thakoo, Mr. Sanjeev Parihar and Mr. Jamait Ali. |
