| Mula Ram meets Union tourism minister | | Seeks funds for development of Baba Jitoo shrine, artificial Lake, | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 13 State Rural Development Minister Mr. Mula Ram has sought financial assistance from the Union Tourism Ministry for the development of Baba Jitoo shrine at Jiri and construction of an artificial lake at Purkhu in Raper-Dumanna Constituency to make the place more attractive for the visitors. The minister who is on a three day visit to National Capital met Union Tourism Minister Ms Ambika Soni and sought financial assistance for the twin projects. Apprising her about the tourism potential in the area, Minister told Ms Ambika Soni that the shrine of Baba Jitoo at Jiri witnesses huge rush of devotees every year. He said the place could be developed as a major pilgrimage spot as devotees from as far away as Punjab and Himachal Pardesh visit the shrine of farmer saint Baba Jitoo. Rural Development Minister also apprised Ms Ambika Soni about the state government’s plan of developing an artificial lake in the area. He said construction of lakh would serve two key purposes of raising the water table in the Kandi Raper-Dumanna Constituency and adding another attraction to the area. Soni assured Rural Development Minister of Jammu and Kashmir of adequate help from her Ministry very soon. |
