| Vakil distributes cheques to Kalakote destitute | | Says 7500 AW centres demanded under phase 3rd | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 14 Minister for Social Welfare Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil distributed cheques worth Rs. 7.58 lakh among 83 beneficiaries of the Kalakote constituency on Thursday. Out of this Rs. 3.70 lakh have been distributed among 37 beneficiaries under National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS), Rs. 3.40 lakh among 14 beneficiaries under National Foundation of Communal Harmony (NFCH) and Rs. 48,000/- among 32 persons under militancy victim children scholarship. Addressing a largely attended gathering on the occasion, the Minister exhorted upon the concerned officers to work with missionary spirit, zeal and zest for the welfare of the needy people. He directed them to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes launched by the government should be reach to the deserving persons and cautioned the concerned officers and officials that if any hanky panky found anywhere the guilty official would not be spared. . Vakil said to reach out to the needy and destitute in every nook and corner of the state and to provide financial assistance to them and other avenues for upliftment of socio-economic condition, the government was setting up 6500 new anganwari centers. He said by the establishment of these anganwari centers 13000 un-employed females would get employment. He said new 268 posts of supervisor for ICDS projects have also been filled up soon. He said that government has submitted a plan for establishment of 7500 new anganwari centers in the state for approval under Phase 3rd to the central government. He said that this would also provide job opportunities to about 15,000 youth of the state. He said the functioning of ICDS projects was being streamlined and the purchase of nutrition etc would be arranged at district level for timely supply to anganwari centers. Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister said that Azad led government has taken various reformative and exemplary decisions for speedy development especially for far-off and hilly areas. He asked the people to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad by their whole hearted cooperation for ensuring complete peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. On the occasion, 75 National Conference Workers of Kalakote constituency joined Indian National Congress Party and hailed the pro-people policies of the Chief Minister for all round development of the state. Speaking on the occasion Minister of the State for R&B, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Gharu Ram said several historical decisions including opening of Degree Colleges, enhancement of salary of SPOs and implementation of Roshni Act have been taken by the Azad led government during last two and a half year. He said that present government was committed to provide all basic facilities to the people of the state. Referring the developmental works in Kalakote constituency, he said that Rs. 19 crore have been sanctioned for construction of various major and minor road projects. Member Legislative Council Mr. Ashok Sharma also addresses the gathering and highlighted the achievement of the present government. He said that his prime concern was to make Kalakote constituency a model one adding that he had asked the administration to survey the area and submit the proposals under different sectors for the development of the constituency. |
