| Khoda addresses police darbars at Mehandar, Nowshera | | Says Welfare of Jawans top on agenda | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 14
Director General of Police Mr. Kuldeep Khoda has reiterated that welfare of police personnel was on top of his agenda and said that every endeavor would be made to minimize their genuine problems. Addressing the Police Darbars at Mehandar and Nowshera yesterday during his day long tour to the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri, the Director General of Police said that several initiatives have already been taken to improve the service conditions of various ranks of the force, which have been showing discernible results. He said the police force was a large family and it was incumbent on all to ensure each others welfare in a spirit of camaraderie. He said the jawans of Jammu and Kashmir Police have performed in an exemplary manner in tackling the militancy and protecting life and property of the people of the state. He said objectives can be better achieved by strict discipline, devotion to duty and people friendly behaviour. He said the force has made supreme sacrifices particularly during the past 18 years of militancy and Jammu and Kashmir Police has come up as a distinguished police force in the country because of hard work dedication to duty and supreme sacrifices, he added. At both the places darbars were attended by all ranks of police viz police, armed police personnel and CID personnel. Khoda reviewed the performance of police personnel and lauded the role of jawans over recent success in carrying out successful anti-militancy operations in their jurisdictions in which 10 militants were killed. Director General of Police also held a public meetings at both the places and listened the problems patiently and issued on spot instructions to the Incharge Police Stations, police posts and police chowkies to look into the grievances of people patiently and solve their genuine problems. He said people have expectations from police and they should be treated well in police stations and attend their cases on priority. Khoda also met the family members of police martyrs who recently made scarifies during the anti militancy operations and assured them that their next of kins would be absorbed in the department and their welfare measures would be ensured on priority. He said for the welfare of the jawans, the Chief Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has already announced the enhancement of ration money during the Police Commemoration Day Parade in October 2, 2007 in Srinagar. He said kins of more than 450 SPOs who had done commendable job and gave sacrifices while fighting militancy would also be absorbed in the force for which the proposal is already under active consideration of the government. He said that constructions of various residential quarters and office buildings in all district was in full swing and Rs. 42 crores were being spent on these constructions during the current financial year. He also disclosed that for next financial year Rs. 52 crores have been sanctioned and residential accommodation would be provided to all the police personnel working in the districts and far-flung places in the state. Director General of Police also inspected the huge caches of arms and ammunition recovered during last two months in these areas. On the occasion, Mr. Khoda also gave Rs. 10,000 for Bada Khana for the jawans. Earlier on his arrival at both the places Guard of Honour was presented by the contingents of J&K police in his honour. Among others the Director General of Police was accompanied by the Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone Dr. S.P.Vaid, DIG Poonch Rajouri Range Shri P.R. Manhas and other senior police officers. |
