Chairperson PWWA gives final touch to arrangements

Srinagar August 25: Arrangements for one day Police Welfare Mela being held at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Sonawar Srinagar on August 27, were finalized at a high level meeting held at the venue of the Mela here today. Chairperson Jammu & Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association, Mrs. Vimla Sharma presided. Other senior police officers and members of PWWA also participated in the meeting.
Mrs. Sharma said that various welfare wings and some voluntary organizations representing Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir arrived here to participate in the Mela and would display their products in more than 25 stalls for exhibition and sale purposes for the general public during the Mela on reasonable rates. She said Mela being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association would be inaugurated at 10 a.m. sharp on August 27, (Sunday) and will be opened for the general public.
Addressing the meeting, the Chairperson stressed upon all members of Welfare Association and organizing committee for coordinating efforts on previous experience to make the event a grand success. She enquired about the boarding and lodging facilities of stall holders and was informed about the arrangements made for their stay etc..
Elaborating the main objectives of the Mela, the Chairperson disclosed other activities of the mela which include Raffle Draw, Lucky Dip, Tambola, Kashmiri Embroidery, Ladakhi Crafts, Phulkari Work, Target Shooting, Mehandi, Walnut & Willow Furniture, Basholi Paintings, Delicious Dnacks, Rides & Jhulas, Cultural Entertainment programmes and other attractive games.
Giving details, Director General of Police Mr. Gopal Sharma who was also present said the Association has decided to enhance the number of prizes for the first time for general masses who had shown keen interest in their participation in Police Melas since last five years and in this mega even to 1st prize Esteem Car, 2nd prize three Maruti-800 Cars, 3rd prize five Motor Cycles, 4th prize five Computers P-IV, 5th prize Video Caera, 6th prize CTV 21”, 7th prize A C 1.5 ton, 8th prize C.D./ Player (Samsung), 9th prize Aqua Guard, 10th prize Carpet, 11th prize Rice Cooker (Panasonic), 12th prize Phillips Stereo, 13th prize 200 gifts of costing Rs. 500/- each gift and 14th prize 2000 cash prizes of Rs. 100/- will go the prize winners which would be announced in presence of audience after draw of lots in the after noon.
Mr. Sharma said the raffle draw for fabulous prizes would be conducted at 5 p.m. and small children would be drawn from the gathering to draw the raffle draw numbers for prizes of different categories and would be handed over to the prize winners by senior police officers and members of the association on-the-spot. He said raffle draw tickets would also be available on Mela day at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.
Later, the Chairperson, JKPWWA, Director General of Police and senior police officers and members of the association took round of the site of the Mela and were informed by the Nodel Oficer of the Mela, Mr. Mushtaq Sadiq and AIG (Provision & Welfare) Mr. Aftab Ahmed Kakroo about the fool proof arrangements made for the event for making more attractive for the general public
Among others the meeting was attended by IGP Kashmir, Mr. S. M. Sahai, DIGs Mr. Z. H. Chisti, Mr. Farooq Ahmad, SSP PCR Mr. Showkat Malik, SSP Srinagar Mr. Afdul Mujtaba, SP Telecom Mr. Hilal Ahmad Shah and members of the association.
