Pakistan engages in breast beating over Indian retaliation
5/24/2018 11:26:38 PM
Pakistan has plans to raise the issue of ceasefire violation on the IB by the Indian forces along with violation of the Indus Water Treaty of 1960 at the UN and at the World Bank respectively. It is amazing. On one side Pakistani troops and the Rangers resort to ceasefire violations, on the other it wants to knock the doors of the UN for denigrating India before the world Body. It is strange that on one hand Pakistan continues to export terror to Jammu and Kashmir, on the other hand it wants to create hurdles in India's bid to raise hurdles in improving power generation this is an indication of the shedding crocodile tears over the Indian retaliation to Pakistan's repeated ceasefire violations either on the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. Before moving the UN headquarters Pakistan has pleaded with India for avoiding ceasefire violations when Pakistani troops and Rangers have been resorting to repeated ceasefire violations. And Pakistan is seen in a breast beating mood when in the Indian retaliation Pakistani bunkers and forces are damaged and killed.
The fresh mortar shelling across the International Border (IB) injured 20 more civilians in Samba and Arnia sectors and RS Pura has resulted in mass migration. The heavy shelling triggered mass migration from Arnia and RS Pura. At least 24 villages in Arnia (inhabited by around 25,000 people) and 25 villages in RS Pura have suffered badly due to mortar shelling. Five civilians have been killed in Arnia with mortar shells fired toward Pindi Chadkan village. RS Pura too witnessed heavy mortar shelling where civilian areas and forward posts became the target In the cross-border mortar shelling, the villages, 3 km from the IB were badly affected in which seven people suffered injuries at village Shamka in RS Pura. The villagers have been told to shift to safer places in view of heavy mortar shelling. At least 25 border villages had been affected in shelling.
This evening, the cross border firing spread to Samba sector where 11 civilian were wounded, three of them critically, when nine mortar shells were fired toward a border village Around 35 BSF posts and villages in Ramgarh were under firing target.
Pakistan has decided to raise the issue of India's alleged violation of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) with the World Bank, , a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 330 MW Kishanganga hydroelectric project in Jammu Kashmir. Pakistan's Ambassador to the US Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry has said that a four-member delegation led by Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Ashtar Ausaf Ali is in Washington to hold talks with the president of World Bank, He said that the issue of construction of the Kishanganga Dam will be discussed in the meeting.
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the Kishanganga hydroelectric power plant, amid protests from Pakistan which claims that the project on a river flowing into Pakistan will disrupt water supplies. Pakistan's foreign office has voiced concern over the inauguration of the hydroelectric project, saying inauguration without resolution of dispute between the two countries will tantamount to violation of the Indus Waters Treaty of 1960.
