| Mufti’s son-in-law joins politics | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 14 A leading businessman but a low profile political son of the south has jumped into politics –probably influenced by his father-in-law and sister-in-law in Jammu and Kashmir. Reports from Chennai said that Shaukat Sherif, the son-in-law of former J&K Chief Minister and People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mufti Mohammed Syed, today joined actor-politician Vijayakanth's DMDK. Sherif, a businessman residing in the city, presented a shawl to Vijayakanth at the DMDK office here and became a member of the party. When questioned by Vijayakanth for his decision to join the party, Sherif said he was impressed with his ideologies and his earnestness to serve the poor, party sources said. When contacted by a news agency, Sherif, however, declined to make any comment. "I joined the party only today. I don't want to discuss anthying now," he said. |
