| Life has to move on: Kilam | | Seminar in memory of co-student held | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 15 “Life has to move on”, stated director Colleges and CQAC, Meenakshi Kilam, the chief guest during a day long ‘Supreet Kour Memorial Kidney Awareness Seminar’ organized by the Dept of Computer Sciences of Govt Women College Parade, in memory of Supreet Kour a student of the department, who had lost her life due to kidney failure last month. Principal of the college, Usha Jayyee was the guest of honor on the occasion. Supreet was the student of final year in BCA when she breathed her last. She was a brilliant student and had brought laurels for the college in various activities stated HOD Comp Science Parveen Singh. According to him the loss was irreparable Students of the college presented seminar on kidney ailments and made the audience aware of the various precautions that should be taken to avoid kidney diseases. Tears rolling from the eyes of the audience including her parents were apparent when a presentation was going on, showing the life history of Supreet, and her achievements prepared by the Dept of Computer Sciences. Later, a two minutes silence was also observed in her memory. Speaking on the occasion, Kilam said that it was really tough to forget the memories of the person who was near to your heart. She suggested the students to keep fit themselves and to work hard in the competitive life. She appreciated HoD Parveen Singh and described him as a dynamic and hardworking person and lauded the efforts of the department in ensuring placement of the students. Principal of the college Usha Jayee speaking on the occasion stated that Supreet’s death was a great loss to the department of the college and prayed for the peace to her soul. On the occasion a best student trophy and most appreciated student trophy named after Supreet Kour was also given to Neha Bhan and Supriya Bakshi of BCA department. Certificates were also awarded to the participants of the workshop including Pooja Koul, Isha Kohli, Shivani Sharma and Pallavi Mahajan. The students who got placed in Multi National Companies were also awarded on the occasion. Surbhi Koul anchored the event. |
