| Police has made a number of success recently: DGP | | Two LeT militants eliminated in Pulwama | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Feb 15 Jammu and Kashmir police had a number of successes to its credit in last few days in Kashmir Zone as well as Jammu Zone. This was stated by Director General of Police Mr. Kuldeep Khoda told a press conference this morning. He was briefing the press regarding the successful operation of Pulwama Police, in which two LET militants including a District Commander were killed at Nikloora Aglar. The DGP said that on a specific information regarding the presence of LeT militants in village Nikloora Aglar, a search operation was launched by Police Pulwama during the intervening night of 14/15.02.08. During the search operation the presence of militants got confirmed. Immediately of more police personnel from Pulwama, CRPF and 55 RR were rushed to the spot. Entire village was cordoned and during the house to house search militants fired from the house of one Haji Mohammad Ismail Mantoo. The fire was retaliated and the fire fight resulted in killing of two LeT militants, he added. One of the militant was later on identified as LeT district commander Abdul Rehman, resident of Pakistan while other militant was identified as Abu Muslim @ Atif. It is note worthy that Abdul Rehman was one of the dreaded militants of LeT. The militant was involved in numerous militant related activities. On 20.02.07 at Sangam an attack on ROP party was made by him in which, two CRPF personnel got killed. On 16.04.07 the IRCON official who had come to Naina Batapora were attacked in which one PSO namely Bishan Dass of IRP 6th Bn was killed. The Director General of Police further stated that the investigation also reveal that Abdul Rehman was closely associated with LeT cadres not only in the valley but outside the state also. His involvement has been found in recent U.P blasts and reportedly he and his associate Abu Atif, resident of Pakistan who is Div. Commander South Kashmir of LeT outfit were instrumental not only in supplying in Arms and ammunition to the militants in U.P but also helped in the organization capabilities. The killing of the militant Abdul Rehman has given a major blow to the LeT outfit. |
