| Army takes 30 elderly on 15-day tour to various cities of North India | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 15 In yet another effort towards spreading goodwill and awareness in the insurgency ridden areas of Gul, Gulabgarh and Mahor, the Army organized a 15 day dream tour for a group of 30 elders, including Sarpanches, Naib Sarpanches and Maulves to Ambala, Shimla, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Amritsar. The tour aims at providing the participant an opportunity to explore the parts of country that exist beyond confines of their own abode in the rural J&K. Rashtriya Rifles Uniform Force as part of Operation Sadbhavana is organizing the tour. The tour was flagged off from Reasi on Friday in presence of a considerable number of locals of the area. Speaking on the occasion, the Commanding Officer of RR Unit conducting the tour emphasized the need for people to shed their inhibitions and join hands in ushering in a new era of peace and development. He also highlighted the ongoing program under Operation Sadbhavana towards better education and health in remote areas. The tour party will return on 29 February 2008. |
