| Rally against female foeticide flagged off | | | Early Times Reporter

A candle light rally against the female foeticide was flagged off by the senior National Conference (NC) leader, A R Rather here today.
The rally was organized by the Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Children Welfare Society, Gurdeep Singh Sassan. Speaking on the occasion, Rather said that due to the frequent abortions for selective parental sex, around 30 to 40 million of girls are missing from the Indian population.
He added that the root cause of the foeticide in India is the existence of dowry system prevailed in the Indian society for the long time.
Addressing to the gathering, chairman of the society Sasan said that the female foeticide is the greatest crime and the laws against such crime would be strengthened, as it is the need of the hour. He further demand for an exemplary punishment against the people who found in committing such acts.
He also appealed the state government to amend prevailing acts and asked to bring new law in this regard.
Among others who participated in the rally was, M. Quseshi, Brij Mohan Sharma, Jugal Mahajan, Bimla Luthra, Dharam Veer Jamwal, Dr. Swaran Singh, Rita Mahajan and Gagan Deep Singh. |
