| Shashi scripts KCCC win, enters final of President Cup | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 15 Playing patient innings of 41, Shashi Sharma today scripted a three-wicket victory of Kishan Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) over National Cricket Club (NCC) in the first semi-final of the President Cup Cricket Tournament organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at GGM Science College Hostel ground here today. Virtually under pressure at 45 for four at the end of 12 over, Sameer Khajuria led KCCC found in Shashi and Surinder true heros who played patient innings and helped side achieve the 117 runs target in 32.3 over of the 40 over game. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, NCC lost all their wickets for 116 runs in 36.2 over. Ranjeet Bali was top scorer with 32 runs while Manish Dogra contributed 18. From KCCC, Manik Gupta was most successful bowler with two for 11 in eight over while Shashi, Raman Dutta and Pardeep Bali shared two wickets each. Sameer Khajuria took one wicket. Chasing a target of near three-run per over, KCCC reached the target in 32.3 over for the loss of seven wickets. Shashi made 41 runs off 66 balls with the help of five boundries while Surinder contributed 30 (off 36 balls, 3x4). Sameer Khajuria added valuable 15 runs. Sanjeev Sharma was most successful bowler from NCC with three for 17 in eight over. Pranav Mahajan and Deepak took two each. Today’s semi-final was also witnessed by general secretary of JKCA, Salim Khan and working president, Ramesh Mahajan as also former chairman, Ashutosh Sharma and joint secretary Jammu wing, Sunit Sharma. In meanwhile, general secretary of Jammu Gymkhana Sports Club, AH Kazmi has supported the idea of JKCA general secretary to give the youngsters a chance in the senior Ranji team. |
