Jammu | Feb 15
Just being out of the company of Amar Singh and Amitabh Bachan, the National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah is hitting out in all directions accusing every one of being villain of Kashmir issue.
Dr Abdullah is the town since Thursday and is hogging headlines. For last nearly month and a half when his party National Conference had pushed the coalition to corner, Dr Abdullah was seen almost daily on Television with Amar Singh of Samajwadi Party and mega star Amitabh Bachan in various functions held across UP, Delhi and Mumbai.
A day after, launching a frontal attack on New Delhi for all the mayhem in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Abdullah today accused former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed of engineering deceits against J&K in collusion with the central leaders.
"I want to say it clearly this PDP is nothing but real Muslim United Front", Farooq said in a television talk show here this evening. Counting the wrong deeds of Mufti and his aides DrFarooq said the Mufti always targeted Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and spitted venom against him. They (Mufti's) engineered the fall of the G.M Shah led Government. He said that Mufti Sayeed and his supporters had engineered communal trouble in south Kashmir in 1986 and did propaganda against NC.
He held the Mufti responsible for appointing Jagmohan as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 1990. Having found that the doors of a tie-up with the Congress had been shut Dr Abdullah berated the successive central Governments for adopting adopting anti-people policies in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that various commitment made by the successive central Governments had never been honoured.
Citing instances he said that the then central Government had suggested to the National Conference Government to prepare a document on the restoration greater autonomy to the state. He said accordingly “we got the autonomy resolution adopted by the state legislature but since then the resolution was kept under the carpet.”
Dr Abdullah said that adequate compensation to the state was not given for the losses it had suffered on account of the 1960 Indus Water Treaty. When I was in the office I made several attempts to convince the central govt to transfer power projects to the state government but there was no progress. Referring to the expansion work on the 300 km lifeline to Kashmir Dr Abdullah said the previous govt in New Delhi had announced the dream project of four laning of the National highway but on the ground not even a single stone has been moved even under the rule of the present dispensation at the centre. Commenting on the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s drive against corruption Dr Abdullah said Chief Minister is finding himself in a precarious situation. He is not given free hand and for doing anything he has to take clearance. He wished him luck in his drive against corruption suggesting that if he has to win the war against corruption he will have to begun the cleaning from the top.By booking a junior police official or revenue dept employee state government can not win war against corruption. You will have o clean the system from the top most level to win the war, Dr Abdullah said.
If NC will be voted to power my government will put all those corrupt against whom cases will be proved behind the bars, Dr Abdullah said.
On safe return of Kashmiri pandits to Kashmir valley Dr Abdullah said he wished he could ask the same question to some divine power to reply it. He however, added when situation in Kashmir will return to normalcy Kashmiri pandits will automatically return to their homes. I donot want them to stay in temporary accommodation under tight security arrangements. They should return to their own houses and till their own land, Dr Abdullah said. On the coalition politics, he commented i have a bitter experience of running a coalition. The experiment has failed on numerous occasions.Dr Abdullah said NC is not waiting to forge any alliance .We will go to the polls with a clear cut agenda to oust Cong-PDP coalition and leave it in the hands of the electorate.
