| Hoteliers welcome Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 16 Welcoming the foundation stone laying of Yatri Niwas at Bhagwati Nagar, by the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, today All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has demanded that work on the execution of the project should be taken round the clock on war footing, to make the same functional by the time Amarnath Yatra commences this year, by mid June. Stating that setting up of a permanent base camp for Amarnath yatris and pilgrims for other Hindu shrines has been the victory of the long struggle launched by the hoteliers association and other tourism promotion private agencies like Jammu Prayatan Vikas Mandal, AJHLA whose executive body met here today under the Chairmanship of its President Inderjeet Khajuria hailed it as a landmark development in promoting pilgrim tourism in Jammu region, which has vast potential for the same. The association demanded that all facilities should be provided to the Amarnath pilgrims as well as visitors to other shrines in the region, under one premises. The premises should have spacious halls and dormitories for the lodging of the pilgrims. It should also provide space and other facilities for setting up of free langars by various benevolent organisations and NGOs. Besides there should be community kitchen, where food and other eatables should be served at highly economical rates. The police post and barracks should also be provided to man security of the pilgrims. There should be also arrangement of medicare, including a primary health centre. Besides there should be ample parking lot for parking of the light and heavy vehicles for carrying the pilgrim from here to Phalamgam for Amarnath yatra and at other destinations of the pilgrims. The association has particularly demanded that a wide four lane road be constructed from right bank of Tawi river, along Tawi bund upto the site of Yatri Niwas, while at the same time the present narrow lane from canal head to Bhagwati Nagar should be widened, to avoid traffic congestion. The present narrow lane from canal head to the yatri niwas site will lead to many problems besides traffic jams, the association has contented. The others who were present in the meeting included H. S. Manhas, Vice President, Pawan Gupta Gen. Secy., Baldev Treasurer, Ajay Suri, Secretary and Vikram Singh, Publicity Secretary.
