| 211students receive degrees, diplomas at IGNOU convocation | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 16 Nineteenth Convocation of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), imparting education through distance mode, was held at Indian Institute of Integrated Medicines (IIIM) auditorium, here today. While the main function was held at IGNOU headquarters in New Delhi, the local convocation was organized by Regional Director, IGNOU Centre, and Jammu and awarded 211 degrees to the successful candidates in different courses. Commissioner Secretary Higher and Technical Education, Pramod Jain who was the guest of honor, distributed degrees among those declared successful in wide-range of courses. He lauded the role of IGNOU is spreading education in the country as also in Jammu and Kashmir. He had a good word for the entire staff of IGNOU, Jammu and assured of his full co-operation. The minister said that vigorous efforts are on to raise upwards from the present literacy He praised the dynamic personality of late Indira Gandhi, on whose the varsity has been named and the spectacular progress it has achieved as the country’s largest university. Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre, Jammu, KK Bhat, presented a detailed report highlighting the activities and achievements in Jammu region. He gave a detailed account of progress achieved since 1998 when the IGNOU Regional Centre was set up at Jammu.
