| CJM sentences accused to 3 yrs rigorous imprisonment | | | Early Times Reporter Kathua | Feb 16 Chief Judicial Magistrate Kathua, V S Bhou today convicted the accused and sentenced him to three year’s rigorous imprisonment for causing death of a lady by his rash and negligent driving. According to the case the accused Gurdev Singh s/o Rewail Singh of Autal Samba while Driving bus NO JK02J-9657 knocked down one Sunita Devi s/o Dewan Chand r/o Logate on Kathua-Jammu highway by rash and negligent driving on October 24, 2003 causing grievous injuries to her who later succumbed in the Hospital The Police after registering a case presented charge sheet in the Court. The CJM today convicted the accused for six months imprisonment and fine of Rs. 1000 for the offences u/s 279 RPC and another three year’s sentence for offences under section 304-A RPC besides fine of Rs.1,000. Both the sentences, however, would run concurrently, the CJM ordered.
