| Four Day gunfight ends; 2 Let militants killed in Doda | | |
Banihal, Aug 25 : Army claimed to have eliminated a foreign militant after the four day long encounter ended today, while a local militant has been killed in Kishtwar area of district Doda this after noon here today.
Official sources told News Agency of Kashmir that a militant was killed after the four day gunbattle between the security forces and militants was ended in Pathryal area of Banihal this afternoon. Identity card recovered from his pocket identified the slain militants as Mohd Ashraf Mir S/O Ghulam Mohd Mir R/O Bandipora.
Army claimed that the militant who got killed was a PAK National and belongs to Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit but the identity of the militant was yet to be ascertained.
One AK-47 rifle, three magazines were recovered from the possession of the militant.
It is pertinent to mention here that a gunfight that started in maize crops of the area came to an end after four days. One SPO and an army jawan have reportedly been killed in the four day long gunbattle.
Mean while army claimed to have gunned down a local militant in Nawpanchi area of Kishtwar in district Doda today.
Police sources said that on a specific information army and police raided a house where a LeT militant was hiding and engage him in fire after the whole area was cordoned off.
In exchange of firing one militant who was later identified as Ab Thallah (Code Name) S/ O Ghulam Ahmad of Pethgoa Naw Panache Kishtwar.
He according to police was active from the last four years and was an active cadre of Lashkar-e-Toiba Militant outfit. |
