| Meanwhile, Ajit Kumar appears in court | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 16 Sacked by Mufti regime on charges of corruption and reinstated by Azad government, the top IAS officer today appeared in the court of special anti-corruption judge in the jute mat scam. Interestingly, Ajit Kumar appeared before the court only a month after he retired from the government service. Earlier, the Vigilance Organisation presented challan in the jute mat scam in January this year, after ten years of prolonged investigations. Ajit Kumar along with Janak Singh then Financial Advisor, Ghulam Rasool Vakil alias Lassa Vakil and Abdul Rehman Bhat proprietor of Commercial Corporation Ltd Srinagar supplier jute matting are facing trial in the publicized scam. According to the challan that Ghulam Rasool Vakil as agent of Ajit Kumar has by getting inducting himself as a partner of the supplier firm by using the officer position of Mr. Ajit Kumar then Additional Chief Secretary earned a profit of more than Rs 12 lacs out of the said deal. It is alleged in the challan that he entered into conspiracy with Ajit Kumar whereby asking him to exert pressure on accused Abdul Rehman Bhat to make him partner in the said deal and accused in doing so thereby drawn undue profit of Rs 12 lacs. Adv DS Chouhan appeared on behalf of Ajit Kumar. It may be mentioned here that Mr. Ajit Kumar was arrested by VOJ and was bailed by the Court whereas Ghulam Rasool alias Lassa Vakil was also arrested and was also bailed by the Court. In the meanwhile Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. Kartar Singh today granted two days police remand of Arjun Singh dealing Assistant in the office of Board of School Education (BOSE) who was caught red-handed by the VOJ while accepting Rs 1500/- as bribe from the complainant for the correction made in the certificate of complainant. |
