Police today claimed to have arrested a thief in Batote area of Ramban district.
Station House Officer Batote told News Agency of Kashmir that police was receiving continuous complaints from the local residents that a group of thieves was active in the area.
Based on the complaints, police rounded up Des Raj s/o Mir Chand Bhagat of Landhri Batote. During the interrogation the accused has admitted that he was kingpin of a group of thieves, which was active in the area since last more than six months.
"He has revealed the names of some of his accomplice and a hunt has been launched to nab them", sources said.
