| Shastri urges sixth pay panel to submit report before Budget session | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 17 President National Mazdoor Conference, Subash Shastri, has urged the Chairman 6th Pay Commission, Justice (Retd) B M Krishna, to submit its report at the earliest to enable the Central Government to work out the modalities and make necessary provision in the budget for its implementation. Addressing largely attended NMC activists’ rally at Rani Park here today, Shastri has also appealed the Prime Minister and the Union Finance Minister to earmark special funds to the resource deficit states like Jammu and Kashmir to enable implementation of the 6th Pay Panel in respect of the employees simultaneously with the Central staff across the country. He appreciated the stand taken by the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the recently held National Development Council meeting emphasizing for making provision for the implementation of the pay panel report. Pleading for enhancing the income tax exemption limit to Rs two lakhs, he said this measure would provide much needed relief to the salaried class, in view of steep hike in prices of essential commodities and rising inflation. He also sought immediate relief of 5 per cent DA in favour of employees due from January last apart from regularization of all daily wagers, timely payment of wages and enhancement of the daily wages. Among others, who addressed on the occasion were, Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, A. Malik, Lalit Kumar Sharma, Puran Chand, Niaz Mohammed, Sukh Dev Singh and Purshotam Kumar.
