| Sahni tipped to take over as FC Home | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 17 In the next round of cabinet meeting which is likely to be held later this month, the Financial Commissioner Agriculture Production Satinder Singh Sahni is tipped to be appointed as Financial Commissioner Home. The post of administrative secretary in the Home department has been lying vacant since October 2007 after the elevation of then incumbent BR Kundal to the post of Chief Secretary. Temporary charge is presently being held Dr Pawan Kotal, the secretary in the Chief Minister's Office. Sources said that the government is also mulling a huge overhaul in the Crime Investigation Department of Police. There are many positions from top to bottom in the CID lying vacant for many months and on other posts some officers have been overstaying since many years. Sources said that the in view of elections due later this year, the government is making a serious exercise to overhaul the CID wing of Police. The CID wing, apart from other duties, is charges with the responsibility of gathering details and feedbacks from the fields on a variety of issues. According to official sources the CID wing is preparing itself in advance in the election year. "Elections in Jammu and Kashmir are a major event and in this age of instant connectivity we cannot draw ourselves with old technology so we have also decided to go for a major revamp and arm our men in the filed with the latest equipment to make their jobs easy, a senior police officer said. "We are in the process of overhauling ourselves as per the field requirement, a senior police official privy to recent decisions taken at the highest level revealed. "In this age of communication we feel if our men do not acquire the latest gadgetry they cannot deliver the goods in real time.The flow of information is very fast and from all directions so we decided to procure more digital cameras and voice recorders so that we can improve quality of work and do our homework efficiently, another police officer supportive of latest changes in the department said.
