| Cops murder: Police solves case within a record time | | Wife of the deceased along with four other accused arrested | | Early Times Reporter

Police today claimed to have solved a blind murder case of Police Head Constable and arrested five accused, including the wife of the deceased Madan Lal s/o Mir Chand of Swankha Morh in Vijpaur area of Samba district. However, one more accused in the murder case Mangal Dass @ Mangu @ Panday s/o Ram Ditta of Rarian is still absconding and efforts are on to apprehend him.
Giving details of the case, SSP Samba said that following receipt of reliable information that an unknown male body was lying on link road leading towards village Salmeri along with Motor Cycle NO JK02-AD 5326 on February 2 at 0200 hours, a police team from Vijaypur led by SHO swung into action and got identified the body of Madan Lal, presently serving in the Police Department as Head Constable and posted at BPP Supwal. The police took the body into custody and seized the motor cycle from the spot. The body was later shifted to CHC Ramgarh for postmortem.
The SSP said to ascertain the cause of the death inquest proceedings u/s 174 Cr. PC were initiated and the probe was taken by SHO himself under his supervision.
He said a special team was constituted under the supervision of SDPO Samba Ram Singh Charak, who was assisted by Inspector Arun Jamwal SHO P/S Vijaypur, SI Sanjiv Chib I/C BPP Supwal and others.
He said during the course of probe, Shano Devi w/o the deceased Madan Lal was examined and during questioning she disclosed that she had drawn a huge sum of amount from joint accounts of Shano Devi and her spouse Madan Lal from Post Office Vijaypur and a Bank Branch Swankha Morh which she spent lavishly. When the matter came to the notice of the deceased, an altercation took place between them leading to frequent quarrels with each other on trifles mostly. She further said that she made a plan to do away with her husband and contacted Shashi Kant S/O Kali Dass of Rarian, at present Swankha Morh, a shopkeeper near the house of the deceased, Jyoti Sharma s/o Rattan Sharma r/o Gurah Morh, Rajinder Kumar s/o Romesh Chand r/o Rurian, Mangal Dass @ Mangu @ Panday s/o Ram Ditta r/o Rurian and a deal was struck with them. She offered to pay Rs two lakhs and made Rs.50, 000 in advance to one Shashi Kant for killing her husband.
During sustained interrogation she revealed that on February 1 evening, she along with her son Suraj Singh @ Kaka and the hired goons prepared a well knit plan for the murder of Madan Lal in her house. Accordingly they murdered him and put his body in a Maruti Van NO JK-02AC- 6075 and threw the body along with his motor cycle on the link road approaching Salmeri, half a Km from National Highway. Later, the head of the deceased was crushed under the tyre of the van leaving no chance of his survival.
The SSP said that on the disclosure of the Shano Devi wife of the deceased, a FIR NO 18/2008 u/s 302,120-B, RPC was registered and investigation taken up. During the course of investigation five accused persons, hired by the lady, were taken into custody within 24 hours after establishing the blind murder case. During interrogation, the SSP said that all the accused confessed that they had committed the crime in league with each other. However, one more accused identified as Mangal Dass is still absconding and efforts are on to nab him, the SSP added.
