Early Times Report
SUNDERBANI, June 13: After having withdrawn huge funds for construction of a road and a culvert at village Patrarra in Sunderbani , Rural Development Department (RDD), the works could not withstand a small weather vagary, bringing the department which has been marred by the allegations of misappropriations in the past, under scanner once again.
Rs 7 lakhs were released from RDD to construct a motorable road of a small length at village Patrarra few years ago for which works were undertaken, but constructed with sub standard material, it got damaged after rains lashed the area.
The road today stands totally damaged with pits and craters apparent on the road extending nightmares to the commuters as well as vehicle pliers. Same is the fate of a nearby culvert constructed by the department for which Rs 2 lacs were released in the same year, but today, no sign of the culvert appears anywhere , once again putting the people to great hardships while moving through the area .
Though the road was damaged and left unapproachable, the culvert for which Rs 2 lacs were spent does not exist anywhere at Patrarra .
The residents of the area in a unanimous effort had reached the Vigilance Organization with a written application of complaining about the department's non seriousness in executing the public works, not a single action has been taken in this regard so far.
It is rued that Vigilance Organization seemed to be influenced by the high officials of RDD as the organization has not cared even to approach the department.
The people of the area have appealed the RDD minister to personnel intervene in the matter and seek VO's services to rope in RDD for spending lacs of amount , allegedly favoring the influential ones , and depriving the people their developmental works.
