| J&K Seerat-ul-Nabi Conference demand setting up of Islamic University | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 19 All Jammu and Kashmir Seerat-ul-Nabi Conference has unanimously resolved to approach the government afresh for setting up of Islamic University on the name of ‘Shah Hamdan’ both at Srinagar and Jammu, besides allotting 300 kanals of land for the purpose. The Conference, in an emergent meeting of religious scholars and ulmas from Nudatul-Ulama and Ahle-Sunnant Waljamat, which was attended by the scholars from all over the state, have expressed their resentment over the government’s silence on their demand and impressed upon the government to concede the same at the earliest. The meeting, while welcoming the government decision announced recently for allotment of 100 kanals and 90 kanals of land at Badgam and Ganderbal respectively in Kashmir for one sect of Ahli-Hadith, the Conference regretted that no decision has so far been taken with regard to setting up of Islamic University at the twin capital cities of the state. The meeting unanimously resolved that a four member team consisting Haji Abdul Majid President of the Conference, Prof Mohammed Yaseen Kirmani, General Secretary Nadatul-Ulama, Haji Nizam ud-Din, MLC and Mohammed Noorani Nakshbandi, will approach the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad with a fresh representation for allotment of land for the ‘Shah Hamdan University’ and also issuing orders for sanctioning of the same. The meeting, among others, was attended by Justice (Retd) Mohammed Yasin Kaousa, Mohammed Amin Khan, Prof Mohammed Yasin Kirmani, Mohammed Noorani Nakashbandi, Haji Nizam ud-Din MLC and Abdul Hameed Hakani.
