Jammu | Feb 19
In a writ petition filed by a newly married couple seeking protection, the Justice Virender Singh of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, today directed SSP Rajouri to look into the matter without any delay and ensure all required protection to the couple.
This direction was passed on a petition filed by Samiya Jabeen d/o Mohammed Azam Malik and wife of Yasir Arafat r/o village Chowkian (Bagh) Tehsil Darhal District Rajouri seeking protection in view of threat perception.
The petitioners apprehend any untoward incident at the hands of the parents of the girl for the reason that Samiya Jabeen got married to Yasir Arafat against the wishes of her parents in September, 2007.
According to the petitioners, a false case has been registered against Yasir Arafat at P/S Darhal 366/109 RPC (kidnapping). The grievances of the petitioners is that that they approached SHO Darhal and SHO P/S Rajouri for taking necessary action against the parents and relatives of girl and for providing adequate security cover them but to no affect and they filed this petition for the same relief.
Justice Virender Singh, while issuing direction to the police, observed that both the petitioners are present in the court and they have been identified by AM Malik their Advocate. Samiya Jabeen has made a statement without oath that she got married to Yasir Arafat on September 22, 2007 on her free will but against the wishes of her parents and therefore, they are now interfering in their marital life. Both of them have threat perception at their hands. AAG BS Salathia appearing on behalf of State submitted that he does not intend to file reply to the petition. The petition is disposed off with a direction to SSP Rajouri, Justice ordered. JNF
