| BAJ calls off two months old strike | | Resuming work from Aug 29 | | JAMMU AUG-25- Bar Association Jammu in its general house meeting held under the chairmanship of its President Ved Raj Wazir has unanimously decided to call off its two month long indefinite strike from August 29,2006 following Apex Court verdict on Srinagar sex scandal case. The BAJ had gone on strike from June 29 last in support of its demand for transfer of much publicized sex scandal case from Srinagar to Jammu Court or any other Court of the country. Secretary Bar Association Abhivan Sharma has said that the persons involved in the case have been listed on August 28,2006 in the Apex court and its decision is binding for all the authorities including the Bar Association Jammu adding that the association has highest regard of the Supreme Court and its verdicts. The meeting also discussed the discussions the BAJ had with Chief Minister, Transport Minister and Chief Justice of Jammu and High Court. The Association has expressed its gratitude to Chamber of Commerce Jammu, transporters, traders’ federations and all bazaar associations and bar associations of Jammu region for their support in making Jammu bandh on August 11 last a success. Sharma said that the persons involved in the scandal have approached the Supreme Court and the matter is listed for August 28 and the verdict of the Apex Court is binding on all and in the light of this situation Bar Association Jammu has decided to call off their two month old strike from August 29,2006.
