| Jammu girls shine in Chennai | | | Early Times Reporter

Poonam Sharma and Sumiksha Thakur, Ph D scholars of Jammu have bagged coveted prizes in an international conference on "Current Trends in Algal Biodiversity and Biotechnology" in oral and postal presentations held at the Centre for Advanced Studies in Botany in the Gujndy Campus of University of Madras in Chennai.
Poonam Sharma's paper titled "Studies on the diversity of microlagae in relation to the physicolo-chemical environment of Surinsar Lake in Jammu" got her a gold medal and cash prize in the postal segment while Ms Thakur won cash prize of Rs 1000 for her paper "Ecomorphological Studies on Genus Nitzschia Hassal from Jammu Waters" in presentation category.
Both the scholars are working under the guidance of Prof. V.K. Anand, Dean Life Sciences, University of Jammu.
