| Work Culture invisible on ground: Qazi | | NC criticises govt for neglecting far flung areas | | Early Times Reporter

Criticising the coalition government for neglecting rural and far flung areas of the state in developmental sector, Provincial secretary National Conference and former Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Inderwal Qazi Jalal-ud-Din has called upon the people to strengthen the party at gross root level.
Addressing a series of public meetings at Gool and Arnas, the NC leader said that the claims of development by the coalition alliance remained confined to paper-work and media, while the people were still without even the basic amenities.
The double-shift and work culture slogans pioneered and publicized by the coalition alliance seems to be a mere slogan when one looks at the dilapidated condition of government institutions, roads, hospitals and schools in far flung areas.
The government, he said, is answerable to the people of the state for its failure to deliver at the ground level despite receiving huge financial support from the central government. "What has happened to the money received by the government from Government of India as special packages and budgetary support", he asked adding, "The failure of the government to act can be gauged from the fact that only 35 per cent of the funds allocated in the prevision budget has been spent in more than eight months".
Coming down heavily upon the policies of the government, he said that if the chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad was sincere he should take stern action against the government officials and ministers who were responsible for misappropriating the public money or failed to execute the developmental work in time.
Speaking on the occasion former MLA and District president Abdul Wahid Shan said that Gool despite severe damage due to the recent snowfall the government agencies have ignored the area for the best reason known to them.
"Even the local MLA has not bothered to visit the area to ascertain the situation", he said adding, "While the government spent lakhs of rupees on aerial surveys and tours of ministers to some of the affected areas, people in Gool and Arnas areas have been left at the mercy of God".
Shan also highlighted some of the local problems and alleged that the government deliberately ignored Gool area to include in the Tourism circuits despite the fact that the area has a great tourism potential.
"The local PHCs and schools are without the adequate staff and infrastructure and people are being forced to face the hardship".
Another senior party leader Farooq Ahmed Mir, while addressing the public meeting, said that Gool-Ramban road remains in dilapidated condition despite repeated assurances from the government.
He further criticised the government for its failure to implement the central sponsored scheme of National Employment Guarantee Scheme in the area.
